A little message before you vote

This is it. After months of endless speeches, campaigns, protests, and debates, the big day will finally come tomorrow. I know I don’t usually write about this stuff, but I just want to express a piece of my mind to my fellow Jakartans, who wants to see this giant pile of mess we call our beloved city, to be better.

Don’t vote for fear.
For fear will only stop you.
Instead, do it because you are courageous. Don’t vote out of fear fabricated by the masses, but you do it because you have the courage in you to initiate change and instill truths.

Don’t vote for hate.
For hate is such a destructive force.
Instead, do it because we love the city. Don’t vote because you want to see the candidate you hate lose, but do it because you want to see the city that we love to grow and prosper.

Don’t vote for religion.
For heaven or hell is only for God to decide.
Instead, do it because you believe in something. Don’t vote because your religious leaders told you to, but do it because you believe that one man can build a better lives for many.

Don’t vote for promises.
For promises are made to be broken.
Instead, do it because you have trust. Don’t vote because the candidate promises you heaven, but do it because you trust that he will lead this city to the hell and back.

Don’t vote for hope.
For hope are just illusions that will disappoint you.
Instead, do it because you are a realist. Don’t vote because you want to the hopes of utopia come true, but do it because you know the harsh reality of our city, and who has the proven capability to fix it.

And lastly,
Don’t vote for dreams.
For dreams are made for sleep.
Instead, do it because you are awake.
Do it because you are alive, and you want to see change, onwards and better.

Let’s vote, so the city and the people, will be the winners.
